Motor Learning, Confidence & Empowerment
There is a significant growing body of research indicating that children who participate in daily structured physical activities demonstrate improved focus, enhanced organizational skills, and an improved capacity to learn and retain information. There is also research showing that children who participate in peer-based cooperative social groups demonstrate enhanced confidence with same aged peers, are more effective at solving problems and negotiating issues with others, and demonstrate increased flexibility in novel situations.
kidSHINE is excited to merge physical skills and social skills by offering group programs to support and enhance childrens’ growth and skill development. kidSHINE uses an occupational therapy and sensory integration based framework for helping children achieve and surpass developmental and motor milestones. kidSHINE values positive reinforcement and the ability to practice new skills in a child friendly, supportive and encouraging environment. When children feel happy and safe and are engaged in a meaningful activity, skill development is more effective, children feel empowered and are motivated to work hard, and they become proud of their own accomplishments.
Recognizing Each Child As An Individual
Some children require more individualized attention to enhance skill development. kidSHINE therapists are trained and skilled in recognizing when a child needs more focused work to achieve motor milestones. The goal is to support each child in strengthening his or her individual skills, through evaluation and treatment of areas that require further strength and development. The emphasis of all evaluation and treatment is light-hearted, play-based activities and focusing on a child’s specific interests and hidden strengths and talents.
Children learn and grow when they are engaged in play and meaningful activity. Physical movement builds strength, focus and confidence. Group training is not only motivating, but also enhances peer interaction, cooperative team building skills, and the ability to follow directions
A child's ability to achieve goals relies on physical, cognitive, social and perceptual development. Through innovative group and individual services, kidSHINE facilitates and enhances a child’s development and helps each child to uncover and enhance his or her individual strengths.
